I have to admit that in spire of all my talk about using vacuum cleaners I
don't clean my PCs either. They never need it. I did balk when someone
talked about cleaning out the PC often. If it ain't dirty, don't bother. :-)
But I hesitated to say that for those nubies. It does depend on the
environment. Some are worse than others.
And I have had more than six machines. In fact I was more than half way
there before I got my first PC [as opposed to personal computer] I had a
little singe board thingy called the Elf II, it used the RCA COSMAC chip. I
also had a Motorola D2, two board machine. Neither of these could really be
called computers, even cmpared with my Interact, a funny little machine with
an 8080 processor, a built in cassette deck and 16 k of ram, not MEG, k.
Even though this machine was an Edsel to Edsel owners, I found quite a few
owners and many were engineers... and techies like myself.
Then I got a Vic 20, it had only 5 k or ram. I used a TV set for a monitor
for alone time with these two machines. They used an RF convertor, sort of a
little TV transmittr. I fanally bought a Commodore 128, then I got a used
one and took it to work, where I taught electronics. That way I had one at
home, and one at work. I created my tests and handouts on that machne. If I
counted those first two that would be six just in the eight bit machines. I
have had more than six PCs.
Am I bragging? No just reminiscing. :-)

I couldn't have gotten my wife to dust, vacuum or other anywhere near my
computers. I once set one up for her to use for eamail and such, I showed
her how to use it and she never went near it again. But a couple of weeks
ago she knocked me for a loop and said that she wanted a computer. So I
bought her a laptop. I had set up a wireless network so my adule daughter
who just came back come could share my broadband. I had already wired
networked my two or three computers for the same reason.
