If you know what time all this happened, you might Explore your hard
drive and look for files modified around that time. Maybe something
will pop up that is a temp file or something that has the data on it.

Or you could look for any files from around that time containing a
distinct string of text that you know is in the book. How you do that
depends on which operating system you are using.

And when you are all done, go into Word and activate the AutoSave
feature and tell it to automatically create a backup so if this happens
again, you will be in better shape.

Good luck.
