You have it, the drivers will be lost. The OS might have drivers for some
devices,
buy probably not all. XP might have more drivers, but again probably not
all. What you might be able to do is go to the sites of the hardware, with
model name/number and download drivers. I have a computer with exactly the
same problem. The mother board disk got eaten by the drive so I downloaded
some of the drivers, it's a bit tedious since some devices need more than
one driver file. I managed to get drivers for most items but not all. If
ever there was a time that was best for upgrading this on one of them,
especially when the computer is as old as this one. Thing is that a bare
bones computer will of today will probably still be more powerful than a six
year old machine but not be so terribly expensive. I like Tiger Direct, they
have several bare bones machines for well under five hundred. She won't need
a new monitor, at least not right away.
