my cursor has been acting strange lately-as if it has a mind of its own- wanders around by itself for a while and I wait a while and only then am I able to control the cursor I really dont think its the mouse cause when that happens-my computer acts very very slow too Has anyone had this problem before? also-someone told me I should shut off computer (reboot) once a day so computer will act better? first time ive heard that Has anyone else heard that? Catrina Hi Catrina Did you have a previous mouse, and if so did you uninstall the software? If it is a replacement mouse make sure ths software is installed properly and that you have the correct drivers. Alternatively: Extremely hot or cold temperatures can definitely affect the performance of your computer and cause it to do strange things, but if your computer has been inside and in a normal temperature range this is probably not your problem. Troubleshoot the mouse problem by shutting down your computer, borrowing another mouse from a different computer and plugging it in, and then starting up your computer. I would suspect that the sluggish behavior will persist, if the keyboard is also responding slowly then you probably have other problems. The source of the problem may be spyware or adware. Use the add/remove programs control panel to remove all software programs that you do not use and need. Then use a tools like Adaware and / or Spybot to scan and remove spyware and adware programs. Make sure your virus definitions are up to date and run a full virus scan of your hard drive as well. _http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,7423-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/ description.html_ (http://www.pc world.com/downloads/file/fid,7423-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html) _http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,22262-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads /description.html_ (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,22262-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html) Also look at the programs that autoruning at start up.
