Yes, that does seem to be an unusual thing. What you discovered may be some
control enabled in the graphics drivers control program. But I doubt that it
could have been implemented by auxilliarry keys like Control and Shift. They
generally only modify the function of other keys. They would have had to
been accompanied by another non auxilliary key. In any case this seems like
it might be something unique to your brand of computer or your brand of
video card.
