While my computer was in the shop they went ahead and installed a
fresh copy of XP on the new drive. I'd forgotten what a pain that
would be. Now I'm getting pop-up boxes every few minutes. There are
two different ones.....

1. "download Registry Cleaner from www.msreg.com"

2. "Message from SECURITY to ALERT....STOP!...Download Registry
Repair from www.regdoctorpro.com"

Are these messages legit? On my previous XP installation I
disabaled "Windows Messenger". Now I'll have to find where I did
that. It's been a long time. What is it's purpose anyway?

I installed ZoneAlarm and AVG anti-virus tonight. That's it for now.
I've got to get to bed. Any other recommendations for protection
that I should install? I had several spyware detectors and such
installed before, but of course they're gone now. Since I'm
starting 'fresh', I might as well find out what the latest
recommendations are. :)

Thanks,
Diane
