Jim, Nothing was installed expect XP Home--bare bones. I did have Panicware "Pop-up Stopper" that worked really well. And as you say, I also had Google. The first things that popped up once I got my computer up was the "Found New Hardware" for my printer and scanner. Before I even got finished with those installations, the Messenger pop-ups started. I think I put a halt to them though by choosing disable in Administration Tools. I disabled that right off the bat the first time I installed XP and had no more problems with it. I just didn't want anything shooting messages back and forth from my computer without me knowing about it (or having a good reason for it).
It kind of annoys me that there are still many Web sites out there that still put necessary information in pop-up boxes--knowing that probably most people use pop-up blockers. But then, I guess they probably also know that it's pretty easy to hold the shift key down to temporarily disable it if you want to. :) Diane --- In [email protected], "JIM" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Diane, > > > While my computer was in the shop they went ahead and installed a > > fresh copy of XP on the new drive.
