Hi Patty

Well a free upgrade is certainly worth getting, there are 5 versions I think,
which one did you get? When you eventually decide to install it, here is a
site
worth looking at:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradepaths.mspx

As for Norton, I used it for many years and it was always a solid reliable
product, but it kind of went downhill circa 2005 becoming a real resource hog
and slowing down processes. As Paris said, I use Avast! and find it very
reliable, I also have AVG on another pc and that is good also but I still
prefer
Avast as the automatic updates are speedy and efficient and every month or so
the program is also updated. For a Firewall I use Zone Alarm. My advice would
be not to install Norton because once installed it can be difficult to
uninstall
and in 60 days time you will have to pay for a subscription, I think around
£30,
which could be better spent on a few bottles of French wine ;-)

Hi Rupert! Thank you so much for you advice. What I did was ordered the
upgrade, but may wait for a while to install it. I thought I would go ahead
and get it, as long as it was a free upgrade. I will do some more research
before I do any install, as it isn't compatible with some of my programs.
Now I have another question for all of you! My new computer came with Norton
Anti-Virus (for 60 days free). I am not crazy about Norton, and would like
some opinions on which Anti-Virus programs all of you like best. I am not
going to get anything new until I hear from you all...

                                                               Thanks so
much!

Avast ye land lubbers!
