You still are mixing trackball with a mouse with a ball. They are not  
the same. Before the optical mice came along there were mice with  
rubber balls inside them, I get the impression that it's the latter  
that you want. Maybe you feel that the motion is more precise. But if  
that is what you want, don't call it a trackball. If you want a  
trackball, then don't call it a mouse. A trackball has the ball on top  
and you move it around with you finger(s). I never cared for  
trackballs since I first bot one.
