OK, first off you have to get the file list into a document that shows
the file names. I can't say that my way of doing that is best, but
here's how I do it.
I right click the folder where the files are and select 'go to command
prompt here'. Actually this is part of a program that I always install
on Windows. You can get to the folder without that program by clicking
Start, Run. Then typing cmd in the box. Now you have to migrate to the
correct partition and folder. This is command prompt stuff which is a
bit tiresome, the reason the GUI Windows was invented. One way to get
the path is to find it in Windows then write down the path from the
address bar.
Once you have that and are in the command prompt at the folder where
your files are, you can just type, 'dir > filename.txt' That puts the
output of the 'dir' command [directory] into the text file called
filename.txt. Use whatever file name you want.
Now you can leave the folder and exit command prompt and go back to
the folder in Windows and find the text file. Double Click it, and
that will open it in notepad [or whatever program that is associated
with text files]
Now do a Control + A in notepad to highlight all the text, then
Control _+ C. Next open Word and do a Control + V to paste the file
names into it.
Now you will have a file that will have all the file names in it. You
can edit out the junk, like the leading lines with dots in them and
the trailing lines with the size of the folder ant the like.
Someone may respond with some easier method. I will watch for their
reply and maybe learn some easier method. :-)
