I used a free program a couple years ago that auto-sorted all my MP3's
by the data in the ID3 tags. You could set it to sort a variety of ways
- title, artist, album, genre, etc. Unfortunately I forget the name of
the app, heh. It worked really well - the only prob being that some
MP3's (especially ones from P2P clients) won't have perfect ID3 tag data
- like some will have both artist and title in the "title" header.
Anyway, if you go to http://www.download.com/2000-2001_4-0.html and
search for "MP3 Organizer", and then click the "Narrow search to Free
License" button on the left, you'll get quite a few hits to browse through.

Also, there is a way to import Window Media Player Playlists _directly_
into Excel. I've never tried it, but you first have to download the
free media Power Toys Pack from Microsoft here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/bonuspack/default.aspx
. After installing the Power Toys there's an option to Export playlists
from WMP, and then Import them into Excel. You can read about this
particular Power Toy here: http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/3437
Pretty cool (if it works), heh.

Good luck,
Donk
