Another boring story, my experience with lightening. In fact my ONLY
lightening story.

It was a Sony computer and a sudden lightening storm in juxtaposition.
I don't think that there was any warning, or if there was I was being
foolish and did not shut down my computer. The lightening crash, it
must have been right over head because I saw the flash and about a
second later heard the thunder crack. I don't remember now whether the
power went out. But when I turned on the computer again it did not
start up. I did some testing and found that the hard drive was fine,
it worked in another computer. It was a Gateway so I took it to the
Gateway store and told the guy that I thought the problem with the
MOBO because the hard drive works. He said, no it's probably the hard
drive. When I got the machine back, they told me it was the hard drive
and that was replaced. I wish I had marked the HD for ID but I am
pretty certain that they must have replaced the MOBO. I didn't worry
TOO much about it since it was still under warranty. I think I started
using surge suppressors from then on.
