it is a transportable storage device like a floppy disk, but you can hold a lot
more information on a flash drives.  which is part of the reason floppy disks
are out dated. Flash drives also allow you to easily access the information
from any computer with out having to do any thing special to the files or the
drive (  like reformatting the floppy disks before you can save any thing to
them). For instance you want to bring pictures of you grand kids or family to
show to a friend you just up load your photo's to the flash drive and take it
with you, when you arrive you plug it into there computer and have instant
access to those photos. The SD cards work the same as a flash drive but they
need an adapter to use them due to the fact that they are almost paper thin,
and are for more specific uses such as a digital camera, or cell phones.

I know nothing about flash drives. But I was thinking it should be

something I should learn. (I'm 65 almost, not born in the computer

age.) What is a flash drive? What does it do?
