So you've tried your old "known good" ram and the pc still isn't
stable? That could mean that the ram isn't the problem. Has this pc
"ever" booted and run stable? Or is this a pc that you just built and
are trying to get working for the first time?

If this is the first time you are booting this pc you want to get rid of
those glitches in Device Manager first. You need to install the chipset
drivers that came on the disk with your ECS motherboard. That might
solve the USB Cable Modem prob, and maybe even the "Other Device" prob.
But, the Other Device might actually be your mobo's Raid controller - if
you aren't using Raid it can often show up as an Unknown Device.

So, install those drivers first. Boot into Safe Mode if you have to
(keep tapping F8 during boot).
It sounds like you've got correct RAM, and your mobo "will" support
4GB. Not sure if TigerDirect will exchange RAM. I would imagine they
will. The first thing I ask when buying RAM is if I can return it with
NO questions or fees - if I can't I won't buy it there. RAM is just too
finicky - even when it's exactly what the mobo calls for, sometimes it
won't work for some weird reason - and you have to try a different brand.

Good luck,
Donk
