I'm not sure exactly what process you are using to download these
programs. But Notepad shouldn't even come up at all.
When you click a link to download a program (Screeny for example), you
will sometimes get a window with an option to either "open" the file, or
"save" it. Always choose "save" it (unless instructed to do
otherwise). Then the file will download to your computer. Just find
the file and double click it to start the installation process.

Actually Screeny comes as a zipped file. That means it is in compressed
format, and before you can use it you have to un-zip it.
To un-zip it try this:
1. Find the file you downloaded - it'll be called Screeny.zip
2. Right-click it, and choose "Extract All" from the popup menu.
3. Follow the instructions to unzip the files into a folder on your
desktop. Then click "Finnish" and you'll see the Screeny.exe file there.
4. Just double click the Screeny.exe file to start the program.

As I say, I don't know why Notepad would be opening at all, unless you
somehow have Notepad associated to open .zip or .exe files. If the
above doesn't fix the prob - repost.

Good luck,
Donk
