How To Securely Delete Your Internet Explorer History by Steven Campbell on Jun. 22nd, 2010 *Click on the Link below to view. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/completely-securely-delete-internet-explorer-history/ Thank you, Ivan [Lucid Geek] ________________________________ From: Tom <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, September 16, 2010 7:46:06 PM Subject: Re: [A-1-Computer_Tech] Question about Internet Explorer 8 and deleting browsing history Donk, Thanks for the suggestion. Under the Auto Complete settings I see, the options are: Use Auto Complete for [X] Address bar (suboptions enumerated): [X] Browsing history [X] Favorites [ ] Feeds [X] Use windows search for better results [ ] Forms [ ] User names and passwords on forms Apparently the default settings are those I've checked with X's above. Which of those should be un-checked? Thanks again for the help. Try the things listed below (if you haven't already): Two steps to this one: /*1) This clears existing address bar autocomplete history:* (but will also clear your entire index, which will rebuild next startup)/ Start button>Control Panel>System And Maintenance>Indexing Options, Click on Internet Explorer History, Click ADVANCED, Click RESTORE DEFAULTS /*2) This will stop autocomplete history showing again in future:* (slightly different for IE7 vs IE8 but you will get the idea) IE8 > Tools > Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete Settings > Use Autocomplete for: > Uncheck 'Web Addresses' / Hope that works - it worked for some people.
