i have noticed lately that when im on my computer for around 3 hours, i hear a sound that sounds like a fan stops running almost or slows down, then speeds right back up. (keep in mind i do NOT have my computer overclocked). its a gateway gt5464 i have a NVIDIA/MSI 8400GS video card running in it. when i heard it first time i opened computer up and got a can of compressed air and blew all the dust out and gave it a good cleaning.
it still does it after a couple hours. is there any software that will monitor fan speed to find out if its a fan? could it possibly be the power supply? only thing thats been modified on this computer is the video card and a low end 56k modem. (upgraded ram also but got the same speed of ram that the computer had in it when bought. (got it off craigslist about 6 months ago for 50 dollars). went from 2x 512 sticks to 2x 1gig sticks you can probably look up the specs and check power supply wattage and see if im overdoing it. really dont think i am though. would appreciate any help i could get. thanks a lot ------------------------------------ If you have any questions or problems with any aspect of this site, please feel free to contact me directly [email protected] Please do not post personal issues directly to the group.
