Okay.  First let me just say... EWWWWWW, about the "liquid", LOL.

Usually random DNS probs like that can be caused by several probs:
1. the ISP is sometimes to blame.  Do you know anyone else using that 
ISP?  Are they having probs?  The ISP will always try to blame you.
2. sometimes a weak phone line will cause that problem.  Pull the PC out 
and check to be sure the wall jack and modem jack are securely plugged in.
3. Moving to a front port prob won't help, but it's worth a try.  As 
long as the modem is plugged into one of the ports "on" the PC (not into 
a separate hub) it should work ok.

There are so many tornadoes lately... which state are you in?
