Actually, the meme that mysticism is not and cannot be a scientific pursuit misses the innate truth of the matter.
Without going into suspected motivations for maintaining a clear separation between the two, here one need only have a repeatable verifiable methodology of inquiry and study…with predictable results. This is something currently found in mysticism. Of course, in the strictest sense, formal Christianity is based on Faith, Hope and Love… with salvation as a goal. In this arena, scientific methodology can appear to be quite difficult or even impossible as well as being anathema.
