I agree that a draft standard should be considered in the light of
common sense rather than in Biblical terms. But this one has been a
draft for a long time, and there's starting to be a lot of ABC out
there that would have to be changed if it changes. So I wouldn't want
to change this abc2ps behavior lightly, even if I disagreed with it
more seriously than I do.

Yes, this is the problem -- I always have to ignore your error
messages, because I write my ABC so that the output looks right to
abc2ps. Maybe the answer is for YAPS to mature so that I can switch
to using the same parser for both printing and playback.

The script I could write, but right now "xx - _" looks better in
abc2ps than "xx \- _".

The abc2ps hack I could probably manage, but getting back into C
coding would take more time than I have in the next two weeks. (At
which point I'm going to a workshop, where I expect to show people
lots of printouts of the music I've been publishing.) In fact, I'd
really rather publish music than write music publishing software, so I
was really hoping someone else would start hacking abc2ps, using my
bug reports as input into what to do, of course.
