I'm more inclined to leave this up to software rather than have a syntax for it.
It's not that difficult to determine when helper accs are needed and insert them,
and that leaves the option of using them or not, and how many bars should be
considered, and so on, under the control of the person who is printing a score.

I made exactly the same mistake when I first started using abcMIDI and abcm2ps.
I even went so far as to modify jaabc2ps to make the behaviour user-
configurable (and also added user-configurable helper accs at the same time).
I'd still swear I had some files that wouldn't both display and play as expected,
but I sure can't find them now ;-)
