Yes there is. you have to split the notes up. how you split them depends
on the time signature which in this case is C (meaning 4/4). The rule is
more or less to minimise notes spanning beats, especially down-beats.
a4-a1 b1-b2- | b6 c2- | c8- | c1 a1-a6- | a8- | a2
Some would say
a4-a1 b1-b2- | b6 c2- | c8- | c1 a1-a2-a4- | a8- | a2
to avoid the note spanning the main beat. You do NOT do
a1-a4 b2-b1- etc.
I'm embarrassed to say that Muse crashes.
In fact the logic for doing all the note splitting is in Muse (because
you really need it for MIDI input where *anything* can come in)
but I had already written the ABC stuff and hadn't reworked it.
Now where's my drawing board...
