For (3zaa, I would probably use za/2a/2

Notation of rests is always a bit approximate - most real players will
overlap notes or leave gaps between notes according to instrument and
personal style.

Rests in tuples make for confusing notation, but I suspect the real
reason why I don't handle them in yaps is that the restriction is left 
over from when the handling of tuples was even more primitive. Consider
this feature added to my wish list of yaps extensions.
