here is not a perfect solution but a simple one:

I use Barfly for doing such things: by changing output size and staff
width one can achive any desired size and resolution of output. First
put printer page size to lets say 50% (for better resolution) then put
the page dimensions in the viewer preferences menu to custom, with page
width to the desired width for your output. Export as pict. import the
pict into the text or layout program you want to use. (on old word 5.1
one cannot change the size of the pict, but the size of the whole page
can be enlarged to coope with those picts.)
