Apart from gcc, cygwin (already mentioned by Laura recently) 
<http://cygwin.com/> also contains wget (a commandline driven download 
utility) and _loads_ of other useful Gnu <http://www.gnu.org/> tools 
that can make the life of a Windows user tolerable... ;-)
