OK, I don't agree with that either.  But I do think defining the
ABC-note to pitch correspondence as precisely as possible makes ABC
more useful, not less so.

No, I don't think so.  Staff notation is a way to communicate with
humans.  ABC is sometimes a way to communicate with humans, but also a
way to communicate with computers, which requires much more precision
and less ambiguity.
