I intend to post a revised version of the modes tutorial on my website:
there are quite a few changes. But before I release it there are a few
portability things I'd like to check. Mainly I would like to know if it
plays okay on ABC2Win, but I would also like to know the following:

(1) can ABC2Win handle M:none? This is optional but would be
    handy if it worked.

(2) can it handle in-line fields, in particular metre changes?

(3) can it handle a file where all the tunes have index zero?
(I need this to prevent plagiarism by the Tune Finder).

Further, what is the best Unix option to support the kind of interaction
I'm assuming? - the idea is that you read through the text and play the
tunes embedded in it as you go. Generating 200 MIDI files at once and
then sorting through the debris to find which one corresponds to the
point in the discussion you're at isn't what I have in mind. (I haven't
changed the basic design here, the old one will show you what I mean).
Similar question with display, though viewing as staff notation isn't as
important. Is there some kind of widely-used Emacs add-on that fires
off a sound converter/player to handle a selected tune, for example?
