In abc 2 you will specify the behaviour of notation programs by means of the "middle" directive. middle = d (or just m=d) means the program should place the note written as d on the middle line of the staff (as the abc2ps family of programs do now if there is a bass clef). write m=D, to get the default behaviour of yaps or BarFly. You can place this directive in K: or V: fields. "middle" applies only to staff notation and is ignored by players. There is a similar directive transpose = n (or t=n) for player programs, which shifts the pitch as played by n semitones.
