There are two different problems -- one you described, which I will 
leave to you guys to work out, the other is the need to examine 
bgcolor in updateHighlightColor() because we have no way of telling 
whether the colour we store in m_pColorHL is transparent or not -- it 
 is this problem I intend to fix.
