At this moment my abiword instalation is out of use, and because I'm
busy with other work cannot check my abi spellchecker. I'll give you
tomorrow my observations. I can only say, that in other applications,
e.g. LyX, spellchecking polish words with diacritics is very
problematic.

But what you say above sounds strange.
