Besides my comment to Silvia, I have a few other quick comments:
  • Regarding the explicit name idea, what about a simple property indicating whether the name was explicitly set vs. derived automatically?  That's closer to Jamie's proposal,but is somewhat more general.
  • Regarding the support registry API, I didn't see much discussion (beyond David's e-mail a year ago), for why this is needed and what it would do.  Shouldn't we have a collection of clear user cases first?
