ATM for visually challenged
ICICI Bank has launched Special ATM machines for visually Challenged People.
This has been made possible by voice guided system and specially made function
display keys which guide a Visually Challenged person to operate the ATM .
Through the use of Headphones plugged into a jack on the terminal, customer
hears a voice that guides the customer through the transaction. The ATM also
gives choice of languages in which a Customer wants to hear Instructions. Once
the language is selected, tha ATM guides the customer to insert his ATM card in
the slot, which has one 'pip' (a raised, rounded button) above it. The ATM then
guides the customer to enter his PIN through the numeric keypad, which again
has one 'pip' on the number 5 (as is available generally on
telephones/mobiles).
For picking up the cash that is presented to him, the ATM guides customers to
the slot on which there are two 'pips'. Once the cash is taken, the customer is
directed to take back the card and pull out the receipt from the slot, which
has three 'pips'.
These ATMs are equipped with Video Surveillance devices. Regular customers
can also use this ATM under normal course.
Currently "ATMs for Visually Challenged" are available at the following two
locations
Venkatesh Meher, Ghole Road, Shivajinagar, Pune 411 005
    Ground Floor, Kala Academy,
