News- Three robotic models by a seven-year-old student attracted visitors amid a series of interesting experimental works by engineering and science graduates on display at the TECH FOSS 2K16. Saarang Sumesh, a class-two student of Choice School here, showcased a cleaning robot, a robotic hand and a walking stick for visually impaired during the just-concluded event jointly organised by Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) and the Computer Society of India in association with the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre of the institute. “Saarang left us surprised even with his presentation skills. He not only displayed the uses of the robot but explained how he made it. He has made the robots using Lego Robotic Kit,” said TIST principal Dr D Vincent H Wilson.More than 25 projects from different engineering, science and polytechnic colleges across the state are displayed at the ‘Makers Party’, a highlight event organised on the sidelines. Makers Party is a platform where knowledge-sharing groups interacted and demonstrated various free and open-source tools and software.
