I am fully agree with you. let me know, why the people doesn't want to disclose their disability? What's wrong in it? only because they know, their application will be rejected on the initial stage in view of their disability. On the other hand, these companies are also not willing to take undue risk by providing jobs to disabled people, specially to visually impaired . Everybody should have accept all these reallities but this is equally true, the things are getting changed by the time and there's a big responsibilities on the sholdours of the people, those are already working in different-different companies can set an example through their own relevant and consistance performances with the company. It'll also give inspiration to many other companies for creating jobs oppertinities for others disabled persons. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nagababu Arepalli" <[email protected]> To: "AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning the disabled." <[email protected]>

Dear all,
each person have different approach, they did not know any thing
about you and they called you for face to face interview, your
interview went well based on your profile but, they rejected you by
saying we cannot take risk by giving you job here.
in my case in this situation it is going hurt me very much it is vaste
of time and money not only you but a friend of you or anybody who come
with you.
I know most of you do not agree but it actually true.
disclosing your disability do not mean, you are not confident or
discarige yourself it is fact your telling about you.
I do not know how many of you got jobs with out showing your C.Vs and
profiles but, I got junier associate job only on the basis of face to
face interview and they already know that I am visually challenged
person.
I feel very happy when they know I am Vi person before offering job
treating me equally like every employee in the company or law firm.
Now I would request you please stop reacting to this thread because
most of the people in this group did not understand my intention.
Thank you.

I would take legal steps only when we finish all other possible ways of

of awareness. Whether we like it or not, it's fact that people cannot
believe that people with disabilities can work independently until they see us in person. That's the very reason, I would suggest, there is no need to
disclosing disability at the very first phone interaction. Of course, we
can disclose, if there is a question from the recruiter about it.

Even if we consider filing a case in the court, how can we probe that
company has rejected on the grounds of disability? Have they given it in
writing? or even verbally? They seem to have said they would get back after
discussing with their management.

With due respect, I have seen even organisations that claim to be working
for blind where they get surprised to see a blind person using smart phone; I'm talking about people who work for an organisation working for about two decades; if that is the case, how do we expect a person who may have never seen a blind person in life to believe that we can use technology and work
independently?

I agree with Vamshi that when one is into such situation, it would be
helpful to loop in organisations like Enable India who can have a dialog.
At a personal level, I'll be happy to exchange emails / have a few phone
conversations with employer if needed.

Many thanks,
Srinivasu

why don't you file a complaint against those MNCs in ministry of company

no requirement of frontline staff in banks after 5 or 6 years. as it was
stopped after 1992.

Hi Tejaswi,

If you want to get into private companies, its better to approach
organisations like Enable India at Bangloore who would have some
database of companies which are sensitive to disabled. They indeed
place some people depending on the academics and skillset. Otherwise
you can try for bank jobs which pay decent salaries. Of course, I'm
not discouraging you from trying in private sector. you may call me
to discuss further on this.
