Sad to hear what happened with you.

Regarding your contacts, if contacts (on your phone) were synchronized with
your email or other online account (gmail etc) then they can be retrieved
easily. Or if you have backed them up on some other device, then you may
get them. But if they were there only on your mobile device (not even on
your SIM) then I think it will be hard to retrieve.
