Hello Sandesh, If you are talking about Vaisnavi's mail, this is not from NPRD. This is from CBSJ. It is a large document, I will read it later. However, it is more or less accessible.
With best regards, Amiyo Biswas Cell: 6290527506 / 9433464329 ----- Original Message ----- From: Sandesh To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, February 5, 2021 5:17 PM Subject: Re: [AI] Analysis of disability coverage in India's pandemic budget Namaskar all! I just would make few points. list members are free to decide: 1. to begin with, as already is clear to all, the language used, the way of expression, the stand usually taken, mocking anything that is Bharatiya (Divyang and Atmanirbhar are just few examples) and imposing ideology in name of disability deliberately to hurt sentiments by NPRD is the culprit. all listers here are quite mature and do understand that provisions done in current union budget need improvement. at the same time, people also do understand the situation the nation is undergoing due to challenging times of pandemic. 2. the original subject line is changed but the reply is cunningly given to the original thread. The original thread could have been easily avoided so that new fresh discussion would have taken place if members felt. what is the intent of doing so? just the tactic used with changing the subject line and keeping the original thread intact for further provocation? 3. The moderator already has closed this thread with immediate effect. What then the Point No. 2 indicates? The answer is no smart intelligence is required to fathom out that group's guidelines are grossly violated. 4. NPRD is working for disability comunity as per its statement for at least 10 years now, so it must be knowing about accessibility, specially accessibility of documents with regards to those with disabilities. but has it taken little pain and effort of checking the provided PDF document from accessibility point of view? I have checked the PDF document with both screen readers IE JAWS and NVDA. first, the PDF is not tagged. Very basic accessibility feature is lacking here. not doing any other elaberation on more such features. another thing is whenever there is a word in a document having letters "ti" in middle of it, JAWS and NVDA did not read it correctly. for example, the word population is read as populaon, the word domestic is read as Domesc, sections is read as secons, the word time is read as me and so on. it reads matters as maers. some more words I did not take time to figure out are destuon etc. NPRD could have easily produced the accessible version of the said portion of the above-mentioned document and have given the original source for reference and/or for further information. but the link for this document is hurriedly provided. it claims the research all the time. why the simple research regarding the accessibility and how the document is read out by the screen reader is not done here? The reason of telling all this is that NPRD continuously in its mails loves taunting in name of "Accessible India", the initiative taken by the democratically elected Government of the country running with majority. but what happened to its boasting as the defender and protector of accessibility, human rights and inclusiveness here? How India has fared when compared to the most advanced and wealthy countries is for all to see.
