Hi all, How wonderful it would be if the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Department of Persons with Disabilities can be convinced to collaborate and bring up the guidelines to provide mandatory audio descriptions for Hindi movies (and, indeed, movies in all other regional languages too), right?
To this effect, I would like to start here a thread discussing the ideas and their implementation towards the same. What do you all think we can do to spearhead this seemingly monumental yet profoundly lofty goal to revolutionize inclusion and the way blind people watch movies all across India? How effective would a change.org petition be? What else can be done other than a petition? Are there efforts underway to achieve this right now? I would like the people well-versed in the matters of law and politics to weigh in with their opinions and ideas as well, so that we can do something about it. After all, there’s no ADA in India unlike the US which mandates audio descriptions for movies, which, I believe, is a massive setback for our efforts of spreading awareness about inclusion.
