Most of you probably live in the bigger cities. I moved to a village
called
Vrindavan. More accurately, it is supposed to be a forest, one of twelve
forests of Vraja, but due to its high spiritual potency and significance,
being a pilgrimage site, has thrived into a fast developing living space.
Here most people do not know English. There’s no question I have to learn
Hindi, and for as long as I live I will keep trying to do so. I will never
be as effective as all of you, but I should at least be able to make
myself
understood, when I gently try to explain that blind people also deserve a
dignified life.

you do not have to learn Hindi to be in India anyway.

Agreed. The structured method I use is the excellent audio tutorial by
Rupit
Snell and his Indian native speaking crew. Chat GPT helps me understand
grammatical questions I might have such as the one I shared, while
studying
from the structured program.
In a few years hopefully my diction will be larger than a peanut! <smile>
so
that I can speak to you guys in good enough Hindi that you won’t find it
funny enough to have fun laughing!

however, the important thing to note here is that any language needs to be
learnt in a structured manner as opposed to the mere translation method.
