Hi Nidhi,

Off late Narrator has significantly improved. But the general stand of the MS was always that they intend narrator to work not as the primary screen reader but as something which works well in conjunction with third party screen reader.

With your email below, is there a change in leadership or that’s an individual contribution you want to make by gathering user inputs? If it is the former, that would be quite a welcome change!

In any case, I fall amongst the users in the second category and would be happy to contribute to make narrator more viable option.

Feel free to reach out to me on +91-9892622230 / [email protected]

Thanks,
Amar Jain

Hi all,

I am Nidhi Jain. I work at Microsoft and I am a product manager for Windows Narrator – the in-built screen reader of Windows. I recently assumed this role and want to spend time talking to different screen reader users on what we can do to improve Narrator and make it a potential choice for users.

With that context, I am looking to talk to people from different profiles listed below. If you are interested to talk to me and other members in the team, please message me at +918985694636 or email me at [email protected].

do spread the word . I will additionally be sending a short survey for everyone irrespective of your interest in talking to us.

Profiles of people:

1. Using Narrator as primary screen reader on Windows either with speech or Braille output .

2. Using JAWS or NVDA or any other screen reader as primary and fall back on Narrator for few scenarios with speech or Braille output .

3. Using only JAWS or NVDA or any other screen reader. Heard about Narrator but have not tried it recently.

4. Using VoiceOver on Mac as primary but do have experience using Windows with screen readers in the last 2 years.

Thanks,

Nidhi
