Microsoft Edge has recently introduced an option for installing all web sites as apps. For a test, go to Settings / Apps / Install this site as an app.
It will bring up a self-explanatory dialogue box where you may specify a title, location of shortcuts etc. The page title is the suggested name of the app with shortcuts on Taskbar and Start menu. The advantage of a PWA is that, if designed well, it can give the experience of a native app (like the ones we install from AppStore or Play Store). When you usually open a website like YouTube on chrome, besides the website, you'll find the address bar and other features of chrome on the top. But if you open an installed PWA from the desktop, it would usually open on full screen without all these browser elements, giving a cleaner interface and app like user experience. Further, usually they are designed to work offline (wherever possible) so that it is faster than a regular website. You can read more about installing or uninstalling them from Chrome at the following link: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/9658361?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop Regards, Vivian On Tue, 9 Apr, 2024, 8:12 am BHAWANI SHANKAR VERMA, <[email protected]> wrote: Dear List and technical experts. What is the difference between opening the web page through google chroam and installed the web page as an application in windows desktop? for example, I opened youtube with chroam browser, it prompted me to install the page as application and i did it. now there is a shortcut "youtube" on my desktop and also in installed application list. I did the same for IRCTC and mobikwik web page. now what is the difference between twos. if there is no difference, then why google croam prompt to install it as application. regards, Bhawani -- Disclaimer: 1.
