Dear AccessIndians,

I congratulate everyone on this reformative step to enable persons with
disabilities, including those with blindness, to take competitive
examinations independently using technology. This is a truly progressive
step that not only enhances accessibility but also reduces the scope for
malpractice.

On a personal note, I recall how, when I applied for my PhD program, I had
to appear for an admission test. Since there was no provision in CAT to
allow me to take the exam independently, I chose the GMAT as an
alternative. However, this option was both expensive and administratively
challenging, requiring years of effort and extensive documentation. My
decision was guided by the fact that I did not wish to rely on a scribe,
valuing the principle of independent performance.

In light of my experience, I am particularly encouraged by this reform. It
marks an important milestone toward equity and empowerment in higher
education and competitive testing. I would like to commend all those in the
disability rights community and other stakeholders who have worked
tirelessly to make this a reality.

There is a long road to traverse to match the benchmarks. Still very happy!

Warm Regards
