Dear <mailto:[email protected]> @Saurav Hegde,

Thank you for the personal mention, can’t ruin another weekend chasing the sun
but I do not want to leave you disappointed. There is a lot of documentation
involved in reporting and capturing all accessibility barriers with the
application. It requires a lot of patience and mindfulness, neither of which I
have since I have aged younger by the years.

Hoping you will forgive me for my attitude and discourse, I said hoping and
don’t expect you to 😊

Having all the disclaimers out of the way, here is what I can offer as of now.

Subject: Accessibility Feedback on Swiggy Application for iOS with Voiceover

I am writing to provide feedback on the accessibility of the Swiggy application
on iOS devices with Voiceover, an assistive technology used by blind and
visually impaired individuals. While I appreciate the convenience and services
offered by Swiggy, I am disappointed to report that the application has
significant accessibility barriers, making it extremely challenging for users
like me to navigate and utilize its features.

Key Accessibility Issues:

- Inconsistent layout and unlabeled buttons: The application's layout is
inconsistent, and many buttons lack proper labels, making it difficult for
Voiceover users to understand and interact with the interface.

- Search functionality issues: When searching for food items, Voiceover does
not read or report the letters being typed, and the voice search option is also
broken.

- Adding items to cart and customizations: Adding items to the cart is not
straightforward, and customizations are impossible to choose, making it
difficult to complete orders.

- Cart management and checkout: Managing cart items, choosing delivery
addresses, and payment methods are extremely challenging, and the checkout
process is unclear.

- Favorite restaurants and address management: Adding restaurants to favorites
is not accessible, and managing addresses is an impossible task.

Impact on User Experience:

These accessibility issues lead to frustration and exclusion, making it
impossible for users like me to utilize the application's services
independently. I have had to rely on others to place orders or dine out with
friends and family, missing out on the benefits of the application.

Recommendations:

I strongly recommend that Swiggy invest in making its application accessible to
users of assistive technologies like screen readers. This would not only
enhance the user experience but also:

- Tap into the untapped market of consumers with disabilities

- Comply with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act 2016

- Improve overall user satisfaction and loyalty

Supporting Evidence:

I have recorded a video demonstrating the accessibility issues with the Insta
application, which I am sharing and can be viewed here: Movie Night Ruined:

This will provide a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by users
like me.

I hope that Swiggy will take my feedback seriously and prioritize accessibility
in its application development. I look forward to a more inclusive and
accessible experience in the future.
