Hi everyone, I wanted to clarify my previous statement regarding the process of obtaining a railway e-card. While using a traditional concession certificate is indeed an option, it's important to emphasize that utilizing your UDID card for this purpose is also possible. My intention was to convey that you *can* get your railway e-card by submitting your UDID card.
However, please be aware that this process may currently require some additional time and effort. The rule allowing UDID cards for railway concessions was introduced in 2025 and is relatively new. Consequently, it may take some time for railway officials to fully understand and implement this change, especially concerning the acceptance of UDID cards in place of traditional concession certificates. This could mean that you might need to engage in follow-ups, submit complaints, or navigate some potential hurdles to ensure your UDID card is successfully attached to your railway ID card application. If you prefer to avoid this potential inconvenience, using your existing concession certificate might be a more straightforward and quicker option at this time. Nevertheless, if you are comfortable with the possibility of a longer process and potential follow-ups, please feel free to attach your UDID card and submit your application. As time progresses and awareness of this new rule increases among officials and applicants, the process for attaching UDID cards is likely to become smoother. We can anticipate a more seamless experience for everyone, perhaps within the next month or two. Sandesh ji, your experience as the first person to successfully obtain a railway e-card using your UDID card truly highlights the effort that might be required. Therefore, for others who have a concession certificate readily available, it might be advisable to use it to potentially avoid delays and wasted time. Best of luck to everyone, and thank you for your understanding. Best regards, Mastermind vikas.
