Hi Mission Accessibility team, Thank you for inviting suggestions. I want to propose one high-impact cause that can be pursued through *strategic litigation and/or policy reform*, with measurable national impact: Cause: "Behavioural accessibility" as a legally enforceable duty
Across India, PwD regularly face exclusion not only because of ramps/lifts, but because of *how institutions and frontline staff behave*: unsafe “help”, refusal of reasonable accommodation, humiliating handling, denial of access, and no accountability. This is a systemic rights failure, even where policies exist. What can be taken up 1. *Mandatory disability inclusion training + behaviour protocols* for frontline public-facing institutions (transport staff, police, hospitals, public offices) and also schools/colleges. 2. *Standard assistance SOPs + “do’s/don’ts”* (consent-based support, respectful communication, grievance redressal). 3. *Time-bound compliance + third-party audits* and a publicly visible compliance tracker for departments/authorities. 4. *Accessible complaint + accountability mechanism* with clear consequences for repeated violations. How our program fits We run a structured national program titled: *“Act With Empathy: Building Behavioural Inclusion Infrastructure Across India’s Institutions.”* Key deliverables already designed: - *45 structured sensitization workshops* across schools/colleges/workplaces/frontline institutions - Scenario-based training + roleplay using our *PARA model (Pause–Ask–Respect–Adapt)* - Toolkits retained by host institutions + follow-up reflection channels - Documentation + final visual report (designed for replication and policy uptake) If Mission Accessibility selects this cause, we can support with: - Ground evidence, patterns, case examples from institutions - A pilot delivery plan that produces measurable learning and compliance outcomes - A ready proposal + budget aligned to workshop/training delivery Happy to share the full PDF proposal and a concise legal/policy framing note if helpful.
