Hi All,
Consumers will not be charged. Only Merchants will have to give MDR
(Merchant Discount Rate) similar to Credit and Debit Cards for bill/
transaction amount greater than Rs 2000/-. This is to safeguard the
interest of myriad of small value transaction merchants. The rational for
introducing the MDR in UPI transactions is to give some financial benefit
to the payment facilitating cos so that they receive some amount on the
huge tech infrastructure they have to maintain to service the hasslefree
payment system.
