The same problem used to happen to me at SBM, but now I need not have
someone signing the withdrawal slip, as my a/c is converted to a joint
a/c with my wife. The embarrassing thing about this is that you have to
take someone working in the same organisation (not exactly colleagues)
along as witnesses for safety reasons and sometimes there are innocuous
questions as to what you do with the money etc. Principally, doing the
transaction without involving others is the best thing, but bankers must
learn to respect us.

Hi Mahesh,

As per guidelines pertaining to witness, it is not necessary for VI to
bring
in a witness. Even a Bank official other than paying cashier can sign as
witness. this is applicable only in case of cash withdrawls.   I think
book
of instruction of every bank states it clearly.
