Interestingly, Windows vista comes out with this feature. Function+F4 should help you to switch between different displays. E.G. External display, internal monitor or both. The unfortunate thing is that it does not necessarily turn-off the monitor, but helps you to hide the screen if it is of any help. Also JAWS does not speak these options.

Sir, do you or anybody else has the idea that weather is there any

As far as the work is concerned with the laptop while running on
battory I only read books in word.

Some laptops do have a feature to turn off the monitor. If they do not, you
could always try the laptop battery saver from
http://www.techno-vision.co.uk which is what I do.

As for time, I have got about 2 hours extra. A lot depends on what you are
doing with the laptop and the condition of the laptop battery.
