Why do you take such a Kafkaic view of things? I feel organising
ourselves into a potent and strong lobby group will improve things for
us in the long run. The reason why this hasn't happened so far is that
we have been such a divided and disorganised lot and we certainly
haven't learnt the merits of organisation from other groups. For one, I
would like to see where it all lead our folks to?

Of course, lobbying is required and pressure is to be exerted in a
democracy for the voices to be heard.
However, the persons with disabilities are a scattered and a silent
minority and have few resources, if any. So, it is a vicious circle:
depleted resources lead to undermining their existence worse, apathy,
and it in turn leads to further depletion of resources.

However, on this note, I heard in the national news bulletin of all
India radio last night that NFB has withdrawn their agitation after
assurances from Rahul Gandhi about the implementation of recent Delhi
High court judgment about full implementation of three percent
reservation and revised calculation of backlog according to fresh
interpretation of words "three percent" in PWD act and MSJ OM, which
requires three percent of vacancies to be calculated as three percent of
the total cadre in a particular class of services and not merely three
percent of vacancies in the identified posts.
Let us hope the judgment will be enforced in its true letter and spirit
as it has potential to generate many jobs for VI and all disabled.

time to exert pressure on political parties and go for lobbing so as
to
get political milage. it is one of the fora to voice our support to
those
political parties which address the problems of visually challenged and
include promises in their manifasto. i request access indians to think
and
