dear rajesh,
this is how our democracy works since the ages. in the society where 50 percent population that is women are neglected to the extent that the womens' reservation bill is pending since the last two governments. the outgoing Loksabha had at least 8 percent women MPs'; God save the next. in such a bleak circumstancces, how do you expect the handicap to figure on the agenda of the society/government?

Subject: [AI] Curious case of poll accessibility

Friends
Yesterday, casting away my apathy and cynicism, I finally ventured to cast my vote. Accessibility, as promised and directed by ECI was conspicuous by its absence. No ballot paper/list of candidates with their symbols was available in Braille at the polling booth, though I opine that one such list per booth is sufficient. Labeling on EVM was on half of buttons, starting from number 18, on winch curiously, there were no representatives to be chosen.

I believe it is the case of accessibility spreading slowly to less important areas like Nagpur. Hope our brethren would get accessible polls in Mumbai, Delhi or other important cities.
I did report the case to local news papers.
Would complaining to ECI, make a difference in the long run?
I am hearing that poll officials were also blissfully ignorant of rule 49o of election conduct rules.

Two cheers to democracy.
