I hope by now you have complained to the Election Commission. It is your right and you know that if we dont complain we wont get anything. There is a Court order and we are hoping that it gets implemented. If it does not get implemented at many booths we could think of contempt of court. The idea is not merely to pull up the election Commission but to get our rights. so if you havent complained please do so immediatley.
This was an ideal opportunity to create a scene.
I am glad you voted and I am very glad you went to the press. Lets hope others learn from your experience, Rajesh.

Subject: [AI] Curious case of poll accessibility

Friends
Yesterday, casting away my apathy and cynicism, I finally ventured to cast my vote. Accessibility, as promised and directed by ECI was conspicuous by its absence. No ballot paper/list of candidates with their symbols was available in Braille at the polling booth, though I opine that one such list per booth is sufficient. Labeling on EVM was on half of buttons, starting from number 18, on winch curiously, there were no representatives to be chosen.

I believe it is the case of accessibility spreading slowly to less important areas like Nagpur. Hope our brethren would get accessible polls in Mumbai, Delhi or other important cities.
I did report the case to local news papers.
Would complaining to ECI, make a difference in the long run?
I am hearing that poll officials were also blissfully ignorant of rule 49o of election conduct rules.

Two cheers to democracy.
